With Stephanie Lyon, L.Ac., M.S. TCM, Dipl. OM (NCCAOM)

Stephanie diagnoses and treats using the theory and techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which include a comprehensive initial intake to determine overall patterns of disharmony, along with pulse and tongue diagnosis. Her treatments consist of a combination of acupuncture, moxibustion, tui na, gua sha, cupping, and prescribing Chinese herbal remedies. She incorporates the theories and techniques of the Esogetic Colorpuncture system as needed and desired by the patient.

In addition to treating some of the more traditional complaints that lead patients to acupuncture, including pain syndromes, stress, PMS, menopausal syndrome, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses, among others, she utilizes Esoteric Acupuncture, which is a system for balancing the chakras, accessing Ancient wisdom, and elevating personal conscious awareness for optimal healing. Stephanie explores many realms of healing, and is passionate about the esoteric, sacred geometry, vibrational healing, meditation, and ascension processes, while at the same time being a pioneer and educator in the integration of holistic medicine with Western allopathic medicine.

Modalities:
Acupuncture is performed by the insertion of very fine needles through the skin at certain points on the surface of the body in an attempt to treat bodily dysfunction or diseases, to modify or prevent pain perception, and to normalize the body’s physiological functions.

Cupping is performed by creating negative pressure in a glass cup, either by expelling the air by ignition or by using a mechanical pump. When the cup is placed on the skin, it pulls the skin into the cup, which is the desired outcome. This technique is excellent for shoulder and back pain and is also used for internal medical imbalances.

Gua sha involves the use of a porcelain or plastic spoon that is gently scraped over specific areas. This therapy treats respiratory disorders and is also helpful for pain relief.

Moxibustion involves the use of the Chinese herb artemisia as a topical warming therapy. This is excellent for cold and weak patients who need to be warmed up and strengthened.

Tuina is a Chinese form of massage that promotes circulation, relieves pain, and calms the nervous system.

Chinese Herbal Medicine Substances from the Chinese Materia Medica are used together to treat bodily dysfunction or diseases, to modify or prevent pain perception, and to normalize the body’s physiological functions. Chinese herbs are a wonderful complement to acupuncture therapy. Most patients take herbs daily as a potent means of reminding the body to restore and heal between acupuncture sessions. Herbal medicine involves extensive study and mastery of hundreds of single herbs and formulas. It is best to take herbs under the guidance of a skilled practitioner, as they will be able to prescribe a formula that is specific to your exact needs. Gradual effects are noticed because the herbs have a cumulative ability to bring the body back to balance.

Colorpuncture is a system of light therapy based on the concepts of acupuncture, reflexology and the philosophy of the hologram. Light offers a gentle, pain-free, non-invasive therapy.

Peter Mandel, a German naturopath and acupuncturist developed the Colorpuncture system in collaboration with the German biophysicist, Dr. Fritz-Albert Popp. Dr. Popp showed that all living cells emit light, and that through this light, the cells communicate with each other. A breakdown or imbalance of that communication leads to illness and psychological problems.

Colorpuncture offers a well-researched method of re-establishing a healthy exchange of information among the cells of the body. It involves the placement of an illuminated tip of an acu-light instrument at selected points and/or zones on the skin. The acu-light is a small handheld instrument that emits incandescent light of different colors through changeable colored glass tips. Treatment points are derived from traditional acupuncture and other holographic grid systems such as reflexology and applied kinesiology. Mandel, in his clinical practice and research, has discovered many new points and zones that are integrated into the treatments. The process is noninvasive and extremely gentle.
