From Carol Tedesco and Friends
Over the weekend the center held a Community Give-Away. Center staff and family brought household items, clothes and whatever they had that was not being used to give away to those who may need it in our community. We asked for no money! We did however post signs that stated, "Take it if you need it, leave it if you have it--$$". The expectation was to give away these unneeded items, but the response by those who stopped by was interesting. One man commented, "How do you expect to make any money!" To which our staff member replied, "We want to give back to our community!" He was surprised by this and commented further that you just don’t see that anymore, then left a dollar in the donation jar.
The center is a service organization. We provide healing services and do so "in service to the greater good", by helping people heal themselves and live more full, healthy balanced lives. This is at the foundation of our work and it is what motivates us, not the money. But what we find out is that when we are in the space of service, the money shows up anyway, because money is energy and when energy is given, energy is returned. This is referred to as the Law of Circulation, and it happens naturally when we allow it. By the end of the four-hour period during the Community Give Away, $70 in donations had been given for items taken. Almost everyone gave something, not because we asked but because they wanted to. It really was a lesson in community and cooperation at it’s best. All remaining items not given away will be donated to local charities and we will be having another community give away in August and September. The center will put the monetary donations into our operating expense account to help us continue providing our healing services to our community. It was a win-win for everyone involved.
Looking at the current state of our economy it is clear that we are being asked to move back to simpler living and to live in cooperation with our communities. The time of corporate greed and hoarding is drawing to an end and returning to a place of service is taking hold of our collective conscience. Whether this occurs overtime with ease and grace or whether we have to see the complete destruction of major organizations and institutions that still cling to the old ways, is really up to us. I hope for the former, but trust that whichever course humanity takes, it is for the greater good of all!
Each of us can be the example of the change we wish to see in our world. We did that on Saturday and we made a positive impact in our community. How can you do the same this week, next week and the rest of your life? I challenge you to look at how you are being in service to humanity and the greater good. What gift and talents can you give to your neighbors or those who may have greater need than you? As you give so you receive. This is how we create heaven on earth, how we allow God to use us as a vessel for good in the world.
Much Love,
Carol

As often is the case I see themes coming up in my life. Recently, the theme of care taking seems to be the order of the day. It seems that all of us have this tendency within us to want to save the world, to prevent our loved one’s from being hurt or feeling any kind of unhappiness or pain. This sounds honorable and good on the surface but if you look more closely you can see it of what it really is, a vote of "no confidence" in the people we are trying to help and a more importantly a vote of “no confidence” in God. In a way, when we care take we are saying that our loved one is not whole, or that they are not capable of taking care of themselves. In the world of addiction recovery it is called enabling. It is kind of the hero or heroine syndrome of needing to be the one to sweep in and save the day. It comes not from love, but from ego when we do this.
The best we could ever do for anyone is to see each person as perfect and whole! To see that the life they have created has been created for them to learn something. And who are we to interfere with their lessons. Every experience in our life is an opportunity! No matter if it causes us pain or uncomfortable feelings, it is an opportunity to know ourselves more, to know God more. It is through these experiences that we grow and develop our strength, and learn the truth about who we really are, whole and perfect children of the Divine. Like a gemstone, ready to be discovered we are merely working through our lessons until we find this gemstone that is our perfection. This is what life is all about, digging around throwing away all that does not serve us until we find the truth! Everything else is a self-created illusion that we wade around in until we see the light within, and begin living from the light not the illusion.
So, you may be thinking to yourself, how do I not take care of other people -- this is who I am or this is the "right" thing to do, or I don’t know how to do that. We are all teachers in life and the best way to teach is by example! My suggestion to everyone is to take care of your self first and foremost. Be a model for a whole human being that recognizes and lives from their wholeness and does all the things necessary to live a balanced and healthy life. Learn to say no when you are tired and you cannot help someone. Start asking yourself, "what do I need right now" first, then if you feel filled up and whole yourself, you will have more to give to others. But remember when you do extend assistance to another, do so from a place of kindness not need. In other words if you see them as less than or in "need" of your help, you are not doing them any kind of service at all. You are only feeding their self created illusion as someone who is not whole or is separate from God. When we feel whole and one with God, all our needs are met through that connection to that truth. We don’t need help then from anyone, as we have all that we need within us, we are living from that gemstone, from that Light! This week, nurture the light within you! Be the example of the wholeness of your being and trust that all those you love can do the same, as they too are whole and perfect right now!
Much Love,
Carol

This morning I was struggling with a decision I needed to make and I decided to pull a rune (ancient divination tool for healing) and I pulled the Divine rune. In the book the Divine rune talks about how who we are is our gift from God and what we make of ourselves is our gift to God.
With the current decision on my mind and in my heart I had to contemplate how this rune applies. I have received some information via my intuition and ability to communicate with the other side, for a friend whom I have not spoken to in two months. The information in the long run would bring peace to this friend, but in the short run it will likely bring pain.
In the meantime I struggle, loosing my sense of peace. Who I am is an empathic healer and channel for the Divine, this is my gift from God. By not sharing the message am I refusing God’s gift to me, therefore loosing my peace or connection to God? Is it a test for me? To trust the message and trust that God knows the bigger picture even if I do not. The unknown can be daunting yet sometimes we have to be brave and trust without knowledge of an outcome, without knowing whether the message we have been given is accurate and just be the voice for the Divine, detaching ourselves from any perceived outcomes.
Who you are is your gift from God, what you make of yourselves is your gift to God! Make the most of who you are this week, I intend to do the same.
Much Love,
Carol
