Many ancient cultures have always known that an unseen Life Force flows through and around all living beings, and is directly responsible for our health and quality of life. When this Life Force energy is blocked or disrupted, it impacts the functioning of the whole body.
This Life Force energy responds to thoughts and feelings, both positive and negative. When we give our attention to negative thoughts and feelings, it's as if we magnetize ourselves to attract negative experiences into our lives on all levels of our beings, i.e., physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The Reiki practitioner taps into the Universal Life Force and channels that energy to the client. This Life Force energy comes through the practitioner, not from him/her. This Life Force energy raises the vibration of the receiver's body, and balances the vital energy flow. Reiki is then able to flow unimpeded through the body. The Reiki practitioner does not direct the healing, but allows the Life Force energy to go where it is needed.
Reiki promotes deep relaxation and reduces stress. In fact, many hospitals are now using Reiki for oncology and surgery patients.
